My favourite places to eat in Cape Town

There’s no doubt that this city is a foodie’s paradise. The country’s culture melting pot, it’s the perfect blend for delicious recipes. Cape Town has so many amazing restaurants and cafes. Here’s a list of a few I had a chance to try.

  • Chef's Warehouse Beau Constantia

This magnificent restaurant is located in the beautiful Constantia wine valley. If you go before dark, you can enjoy picturesque views of the vineyard whilst enjoying a delicious four courses, eight dishes meal. Don’t be stingy and make sure to add a course of bread and a dessert at the end too to cleanse your palate with more deliciousness. The wine is just as delicious as the meal and the value for money is incredible, especially compared to European prices. Booking is essential so make sure to reserve far in advance.

  • Chef’s Warehouse Tintswallo

Located by Chapman’s peak drive with sea views, Chef’s Warehouse Tintswallo is the fanciest one of them all. You’ll need to book very far in advance to guarantee yourself a spot, literally we’re speaking month!

  • Chef’s Warehouse, Bree street

You’ll also find a Chef’s Warehouse in the heart of Cape Town. They serve tapas and divine wine. The atmosphere here is a little more relax. They don’t take booking so make sure to get there early.

  • Asoka

This is another hot spot in town, especially on a Tuesday evening when they have DJs playing later in the evening transforming the eatery into a dance floor. The food is delicious, the menu is made of small plates, ideal to share with a group of people. I would recommend the Tacos ceviche and the truffle polenta chips.

  • El Burro

Fancy some good Mexican in Cape Town? El burro is the restaurant for you. They’ve got one in green point and on Kloof street. The Green point location has a little more space and tables although the Kloof street one is a great location if you’re looking for a bite to eat whilst strolling all the bars nearby.

  • The Cousins Trattoria

If you’re after some proper Italian comfort food this Trattoria is for you. Their ravioli and squid ink pasta is to die for. If you’re a meat eater their steak ranks pretty high too.

  • Clarke’s Bar and Dining room

This local’s favourite is a great spot for a relaxing dinner between friends. Their signature dishes include a chicken burger and mac’n’cheese. If you’re after something healthier their salads are pretty good too. Just remember to always ask for the sauce on the side as they love putting large and large amounts of dressing on these.

  • Kloof street house

Went to this spot to celebrate a friend’s birthday and it didn’t disappoint. The service was attentive and the food was delicious. The atmosphere is great too, trendy and cosy. On a warm evening make sure to book a table in the front garden and enjoy a dinner under the luscious trees.
