Varkala (2 days)
This is the perfect spot if you want to surf, chill and feel at home. I said this as the town is quite westernised and geared up to welcome foreign travellers and digital nomads.

Shiva gardens this is a cheap accommodation which offers privates and outdoor dorms. In this heat, sleeping outside will be a pleasant experience. They have a kitchen onsite and organise gigs and film nights on site. They also offer yoga lessons in the morning as well.If you’re after something a little fancier, I would recommend Soul and Surf. If you can’t afford it, go for lunch, the food is delicious there and the views are pristine too.

Allepey (2 days)
I really loved this little coastal town. I would recommend going on a backwaters tour. You’ve got three options: get on the local bus which is super cheap, go on a kayak tour and finally rent a private boat and stay overnight on it. I’ve done all three and loved each experience so depending on who you meet and your budget just pick one, two or three.
There’s also a great cafe on the beach which is delish' and offers scenic views too.

The Artpackers hostel which was a lovely and very sociable hostel. It’s now been bought out and called GoSTOPS Allepey -
Munar (2 days)
Visit these place which is famous for its tea plantations. Sadly I decided to skip it as I was short on time and had been to the plantations in Sri Lanka. I only heard good things though so, if time allows it, go!

Kochi (1-2days)
Lovely town with lots of arts and crafts. The perfect spot to pick up souvenirs. It also has an airport so could be a good place to arrive or leave from too.
-
Hampi (2-3days)
This is the most popular destination in the region. I heard a lot of positive feedback from this place but was quite disappointed, not by the picturesque scenery but by how hectic it was. It felt like everyone was trying to sell you something constantly.
Definitely worth the visit but beware of the hustlers. Hampi shares similar sceneries to Jurassic Park, it’s got lots of temples, ruins in and in the middle runs a river. It’s unlike anything you’ve seen before. I would highly recommend, not getting a tour guide unless recommended as they lied to us and brought us to completely different temples. You should simply rent a bicycle or a bike and make your way around the ruins yourselves. Make sure to catch a sunset whilst you’re there too, they are spectacular. -
Gokarna (3 days)
This place is what I can imagine Goa used to be like before it became popular. It’s the cheapest place I’ve been in India, we stayed in a room on the beach for £3 a night. It was literally on the beach too.
Whilst you’re there, you can hike up to paradise beach and stay overnight with some hippies. Make sure to bring your camping gears, food and drink supplies with you as there are no structures on the island and only a handful of venders. -
Palolem (3-4days)
I really loved this little place in Goa, perhaps because I was with the right crowd or because the sunsets on the beach were magical. It’s Goa so expect lots of tourists and beach bars. The plus side is you can stay for free on the deck chairs if you consume anything, even just a bottle of water .
It’s a great place if you are looking for a bit of night life action. Although they are really strict on sound so the big party on Saturdays are Silent Discos. There are quieter beaches around you can stay too if you want some peace and quiet.
